Behind the Wheel Lyrics

Everyone wants to know what happened there
Everyone talks and talks the stories go around
You never used to play those games before
Maybe you're become someone else
Someone elseWhen you got behind the wheel
Who were you then
Somethin' had to drag you downTell me how it really feels
To lose control
When you got behind the wheelEveryone thinks they really know you now
Even the fakes that used to push you all around
Go from a zero to a hero now
I can't decide which side I'm on
I can't chooseWhen you got behind the wheel
Who were you then
Somethin' had to drag you downTell me how it really feels
Beyond control
When you got behind the wheelGathered there
Cool night air

Shadows by the lakeOn a dare, so unfair
Now it's much too late
It's much too lateDid you dare think you're mean this much someday
Everyone calls your name, you know, you love the sound
You never used to play those games before
Maybe you're changed into someone else
Someone elseWhen you got behind the wheel
Who were you then
Somethin' had to drag you downTell me how it really feels
With no control
When you got behind the wheelWhen you got behind the wheel
When you got behind the wheel
When you got behind the wheel
When you got behind the wheel

The Bridgewater, NJ-based hardcore band Shades Apart formed in 1988, comprising singer/guitarist Mark V., bassist Kevin Lynch and drummer Ed Brown. After releasing their self-titled debut later that year on the Wishingwell label, the trio fell silent before resurfacing in 1992 with the Sunspot EP Dude Danger; another label change, this time to Skene, followed for the 1993 EP Neon. All members Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton produced Shades Apart's next LP, 1995's Save It, which scored a minor hit with its punked-up cover of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love.
