Gabrielle Lyrics

I saw her get off the bus
Perfectly dangerous
Though I could tell the trouble she'd spell
I fell for GabrielleShe said, "I can't stay long
There's somewhere else I belong"
But I made her smile with my so-called style
I knew she'd stay awhileGabrielle is the next big thing
Gabrielle, you'll have everything
Soon everyone will call out your name
Call out your name, my GabrielleMoving so fast, we crashed
Hours and weeks flash past
Running around, uptown and down
Feet barely touched the groundWe could break all the rules
But love is a game we'd lose
Never confess, pretend you care less
No one's to blame, I guessGabrielle is the next big thing
Gabrielle, you'll have everything
Soon everyone will call out your nameGabrielle, I can't let you go, Gabrielle, in the end I know

I'll be the one who calls out your name
Calls out your name, my Gabrielle
I call out your name, my GabrielleGabrielle never cries
But something was in her eyes
Whispering words goodbyeGabrielle shines on screen
And covers of magazines
On billboard signs, nine stories high
Once she was only mineGabrielle is the next big thing
Gabrielle, you'll have everything
Soon everyone will call out your nameGabrielle, I can't let you go
Gabrielle, in the end I know
I'll be the one who calls out your nameCalls out your name, calls out your name
I call out your name, I call out your name
My Gabrielle, my Gabrielle, my Gabrielle

The Bridgewater, NJ-based hardcore band Shades Apart formed in 1988, comprising singer/guitarist Mark V., bassist Kevin Lynch and drummer Ed Brown. After releasing their self-titled debut later that year on the Wishingwell label, the trio fell silent before resurfacing in 1992 with the Sunspot EP Dude Danger; another label change, this time to Skene, followed for the 1993 EP Neon. All members Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton produced Shades Apart's next LP, 1995's Save It, which scored a minor hit with its punked-up cover of Soft Cell's "Tainted Love.
