Best Friend Lyrics

I was sitting in a corner wondering what in the world went wrong.
I was thinking about my best friend.
So I wrote it in this song.
I was meeting her for dinner.
She was waiting across town.
She was minding her own business.
Until somebody shot her down.
How could one take life in ones own hands?
Who told you, you could take the breath that god breathed into man
They could be loved they could be needed
They could even be somebody's world
Like the love, I shared with my best friend
There was a boy standing on the corner
I'd never seen him in my life
Statistics are showing he wont make it through the night
I don't know what I can tell you
To make you understand

Since this killing of young people
Is nothing but the enemies plan
Don't you know...he can be somebody's best friend, someone's lover, someone's ken?
Life shut out with by just a touch, of your feelings and soul
With the pain, comes shattered memories
Oh someone, who was once somebody's best friend
Really really hurt me bad, best friend that I ever had
You don't even know my name, but you hurt me, yeah yeah yeah
You hurt me (hurt me), hurt me (hurt me), made me cry, cry-y-y
Tell me why? Why? Why? Why?
Oh why'd you have to do it to me, why'd you have to do it to me, why'd you have to do it to me
Ohhh you don't even know my name, but you took my best friend
And can you tell me why?
Mmmmm-mm-mm-mm
Like the love, I shared with my best friend (my best friend)
Like the love, I shared with my best....my best friend
My best friend

Biography
Contemporary R&B rising star Jazmine Sullivan spent several years learning the ropes of the recording industry before signing to J Records and making her solo recording debut in 2008 with "Need U Bad."

The Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter began her career at a young age, making her national television debut on Showtime at the Apollo at age 11. Jazmine sang at Stevie Wonder's birthday party at age 1l3 and signed to Jive Records at age 15. Her stint at Jive Records only lasted a couple years, however, and she was dropped by the label before any recordings were released. In the wake of this disappointment, she began working behind the scenes, for instance working with Missy Elliott on productions for Fantasia's debut album, Free Yourself (2004), and writing a couple songs for Christina Milian's third album, So Amazin' (2006), including the hit single "Say I." Sullivan was then offered a solo recording contract with J Records, which released her debut single, "Need U Bad," featuring and co-produced by Missy Elliott, in 2008. Fearless, her full-length album debut, featuring productions by Salaam Remi and Stargate, among others, was issued that September. US Singles were Need U Bad, Bust Your Windows and Lions, Tigers & Bears. Dream Big was the fourth single in the US and first single in the UK.

In 2009 Sullivan hit the studio again to record songs for her sophomore record. Released on November 29th, 2010, Love Me Back was a contemporary R&B album with touches of pop, soul, urban dance and a song with a gospel-like chorus. Production was done by Anthony Bell, Missy Elliott, Toby Gad, Chuck Harmony, Cainon Lamb, Los da Mystro, Ne-Yo, No I.D., Prolyfic and Salaam Remi. The first single Holdin' You Down (Going In Circles) peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. The following and final single 10 Seconds reached a high of 18 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart.

On October 7, 2011 J Records along with Arista and Jive disbanded and will from now all release material under RCA Records.

Jazmine's junior effort is expected some time in 2013. Other details about the record are scarce.
