Coming Home (Live at Whelans) Lyrics

'cause I was never good at running away
'till you ran away nothing feels the samesee I was cut between the lighted shape
through the hours of darkness I found your nameI left my heart at the lowest places
lost all my graces in midnight flamesSee I was never good at running away
'till you ran away, eh ehWhen are you coming home?
I'm tired of missing you when you're gone
if distance makes our hearts grow
stronger we'll live longer,
but I'm dying to know when are you coming home
you coming hoooome?
Ooh hooh ooh (x2)see I was blinded by the neon lights
lost my eyes in the angels that sold me lies
empty promisses and warning signs left a light burning out like firefliesno need to talk, baby it's alright
when the words are right
they keep you up at nightooohh oooooooooohWhen are you coming home
tired of missing you when you're gone
if distance makes our hearts grow stronger
we'll live longer

but I'm dying to know when are you coming home
when are you coming home
when are you coming home
Oh oh ohhhhh
so this is it
sing wooahhhoh
wooahhhoh ooohooahhh (x20)see I was never good at running away
till you ran away (x2)'till you ran away

Gavin James, 22-year-old singer songwriter, has already won Ireland's answer to the Mercury (the Choice Music Prize for 'Song of the Year') and seen his debut EP ('Say Hello') remain on the Irish chart for over 6 months. This rise and development in his home market has gained Gavin sell-out headline dates and wider support tours with the likes of Lianne La Havas, Beth Orton, Kodaline and Marina & The Diamonds.

A snapshot of this ascent, 'Live at Whelans' is a selection of new and old songs performed in the stripped-back environment of a rapturously-received hometown show. The first track to be lifted from it, 'Nervous', is a pin-drop account of a one-sided relationship: from that initial fear of your first meeting to the gradual realisation, by the end of the song, that perhaps they were never who you thought they were (and it's best to forget about them).
