Countrified Lyrics

This workin' all day ain't gettin' me nowhere
A breakin' my back won't get it done
I wish I had a dime, I wish I had a dollar
For every dream that I gave up on, y'allThis hammer I'm swingin' is startin' to feel heavy
I clinched my fist when I punched the clock
A little for the bank leaves nothin' for my baby
A pushin' my paycheck around the blockYeah, I need to go face first into that fresh air
Way up there where the eagle fly
I need to draw the line in that cool clear water
And leave the city behind and get country
Oh, countrifiedA fool's gold watch and a lung full of black smoke
Is all I get now for all I gave
My only reward for this broken down body
Was diggin' my way to an early graveI always dreamed I'd end up on a river
Fast asleep on a mountain high
But I'm stuck down here in this concrete valley
In a sea of bumpers and red tail lightsYeah, I need to go face first into that fresh air
Way up there where the eagle fly

I need to draw the line in that cool clear water
Leave the city behind and get country
Oh, countrified, double timeYeah, I need to go face first into that fresh air
Way up there where the eagle flies
I need to draw the line in that cool clear water
And leave the city behind and get countrified
Oh yeah, countrifiedThis workin' all day ain't gettin' me nowhere
And breakin' my back won't get it done
I wish I had a dime, I wish I had a dollar
For every dream that I gave up on, y'allOoh, that I gave up on, oh no
Yeah, oh, get more countrified

Halfway to Hazard is the country duo, made up of Chad Warrix and David Tolliver, from Hazard, Kentucky. Though Warrix and Tolliver were from different towns in southeastern Kentucky, their band's origins are in Hazard. The name of their band comes from their hometowns, Hazard being the halfway point between their homes.

The H2H boys also host a benefit near their hometowns for a local charity, the Buckhorn Children's Center. The benefit, which is held in Crockettsville, Kentucky, is called the Halfway to Hazard Annual Charity Trail Ride. The Trail Ride actually consists of a concert on Saturday and a dirt bike/ATV ride through a trail system on Sunday. At the Second Annual Trail Ride, in 2009, Tim McGraw, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley, Keith Anderson, and, of course, Halfway to Hazard were some of the performers for the concert on Saturday. Over $200,000 was raised by the more than 25,000 that attended.

As of 1/19/2010, it was announced David would be taking some personal time off from the duo and all performances/appearances were indefinitely postponed. It is not known what the future of H2H will be, though Chad assured fans on his Facebook page that he and David will reevaluate things in a few months and see where they stand. Read more on Last.fm.
