Dateline Lyrics

I started feeling blue
back in 1972
barefoot in the street
I had patches on my jeansand high up in the hills
they were nodding out on pills and booze
a odawful sad affair?
and the lights were there to thrill youmy oh my
we live from time to time
and day by day
it the modern way
look at me I speeding through
self obsessive
just like you
we can smile
oh yeah we can smile1984
and school was out for summer
I was hot for teacher
well you should have seen our double featurestarted feeling fine

in the winter of 1989
such an underrated year
but it gone gone gonemy oh my
we live from time to time
and day to day
it the only way I know
look at me I speeding through
a self obsessive just like you
we can dance
we can dance the days away1999
it the end of modern time
there panic in your eyes
so if you can get muscles
then you better get yourself a tan
and be a real man
cos the heroes that you worshipped
are all gone gone gonemy oh my
we live from time to time
and day to day
it the modern way
look at me I speeding through
self obsessed I just like you
we can dance
we can dance the night away

Gay Dad were one of the last UK Brit rock bands to be launched in the late 1990s. They generated massive media interest and had moderate chart success but they failed to sustain their popularity and broke up in 2002. The original line-up consisted of rock critic Cliff Jones (guitar/vocals), James Riseboro (keyboards), Nigel Hoyle (bass), Charley Stone (guitar) and Nicholas Crowe (drummer). Gay Dad was first formed in 1994 by former Mojo and The Face journalist Cliff Jones, his schoolfriend Baz Crowe, and Nigel Hoyle.
