Electric Avenue Lyrics

Everybody, yeah
Take it to the streets
Give the people hope, yeah
Give them loveDown in the street there is violence
Lots of work to be done
No place to hang out our washing
And I can't blame it all on the sun, oh noWe gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higherWorkin' so hard like a soldier
I can't afford a thing on TV
Deep in my heart I'm a warrior
I can't get food for the kidsOh yeah, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higher
Oh, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higherWe'll bring them love
We'll bring them hope
We'll bring peace out in the streets

And then we'll take them higherWho is to blame in one country
Never can get to the one
Dealin' in multiplication
And they still can't feed everyone
Oh no we gonna rockWe gonna rock down to electric avenue
Then we'll take it higher
Oh, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higherNo, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
Then we'll take it higher
Oh, we gonna rock down to electric avenue
And then we'll take it higherEverybody yeah
(Electric avenue)
Take it to the streets
(Electric avenue)
Give the people hope, yeah
(Electric avenue)
Everybody yeah
(Electric avenue)
Give them, give them love

According to frontman and DC Talk member Michael Tait, the band Tait was born in 1996 when he met drummer Chad Chapin. The two performed a cover of the song Curious George, followed by a bevy of Pearl Jam tracks. From this, Tait emerged and added two new members, former Grammatrain member Pete Stewart and former Petra bass player Lonnie Chapin. The group is named for Michael Tait's late father, of whom he says "taught me how to appreciate the human experience whether it be a sunny day, a beautiful lawn, or amazing trees set before an amazing mountain.
