Famine Greens - Krista Weaver

Famine Greens Lyrics
The money's gone and so are, too, the winter stores of wheat
My bread was love and now I have to eat these famine greens
A haunted, hungry figure I've gone stumbling through the snow
To find a sun-warmed patch of earth where the first greens grow
I feasted through the summer on the bounty of your love
And every time you looked at me my hunger'd come undone
Your kisses in the morning filled me up with pure delight
And the way you loved me all night long kept me fat and fine
Go, hunger, go! Go haunt somebody else
You've starved me so--now I'm gonna save myself
Now you're gone, you took your love, and I am growing thin
It's suppertime and all I've got are these first green signs of spring
But I will cook them carefully and eat them with respect
They'll tide me over 'til the summer's bounty comes again
Go, hunger, go! Go starve somebody else
Oh now I know--I'm gonna have to feed myself
