Foggy Mountain Top Lyrics

If I was on some foggy mountain top
I'd sail away to the west
I'd sail all around this whole wide world
To the girl, I love the bestIf I had listened to what Mama said
I would not have been here today
A lyin' around this old jailhouse
Just weepin' my sweet life awayIf I was on some foggy mountain top
I'd sail away to the west
I'd sail all around this whole wide world
To the girl, I love the bestShe caused me to weep, she caused me to mourn
She caused me to leave my home
Oh, those lonesome pines and those good ol' times
I'm on my way back homeIf I was on some foggy mountain top
I'd sail away to the west
I'd sail all around this whole wide world
To the girl, I love the best

Earl Eugene Scruggs (born January 6, 1924, Shelby, North Carolina-died March 28, 2012, Nashville, Tennessee) was a musician noted for creating a banjo style (now called Scruggs style and also formerly known as the three-finger style) that is a defining characteristic of bluegrass music. Scruggs joined Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in late 1945 and his syncopated, three-finger picking style quickly became a sensation.
