I Shall Be Released Lyrics

They say everything can be replaced
They say every distance is not near
And I remember every face
Of every man who put me hereI see my light come shinin'
From the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now
I shall be releasedThey say every man must need protection
They say that every man must fall
And I swear I see my reflection
Somewhere so high above this wallI see my light come shinin'
From the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now
I shall be releasedDown here next to me in this lonely, lonely crowd
There's aman who swears he's not to blame
All day long, I hear him cry so loud
Calling out that he was framedI see my light come shinin'
From the west down to the east
Any day now, any day now

I shall be releasedAny day now, any day now
I shall be released

Earl Eugene Scruggs (born January 6, 1924, Shelby, North Carolina-died March 28, 2012, Nashville, Tennessee) was a musician noted for creating a banjo style (now called Scruggs style and also formerly known as the three-finger style) that is a defining characteristic of bluegrass music. Scruggs joined Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in late 1945 and his syncopated, three-finger picking style quickly became a sensation.
