Ghost (Live at Whelans) Lyrics

There's a ghost in this house
These old walls are fallin' down
There's a stranger out in the dark
And he knows our secrets nowRemember how we used to dance
We were flying, now we're at our feet
You and me, just like the movies
Had our final sceneBut I don't wanna see you leave
Now you're just a ghost in meThere's no fire in our hearts
Through the ashes we'll find the sparks
There's a stranger out in the garden
Oh, but it's him you see
Now you'll always be the ghost in meRemember how we used to dance
We were flying, now we're at our feet
You and me, just like the movies
Had our final sceneBut I don't wanna see you leave
Now there's nothing left in you and me
But some things we can not see
Now you're just a ghost in me

Now you're just a ghost in me
Oh, oh, ohBut this house was never a home
It was just empty rooms and empty holes
And find a match and start a flame
You'll always be the ghost in me
Oh, the ghost in me

Gavin James, 22-year-old singer songwriter, has already won Ireland's answer to the Mercury (the Choice Music Prize for 'Song of the Year') and seen his debut EP ('Say Hello') remain on the Irish chart for over 6 months. This rise and development in his home market has gained Gavin sell-out headline dates and wider support tours with the likes of Lianne La Havas, Beth Orton, Kodaline and Marina & The Diamonds.

A snapshot of this ascent, 'Live at Whelans' is a selection of new and old songs performed in the stripped-back environment of a rapturously-received hometown show. The first track to be lifted from it, 'Nervous', is a pin-drop account of a one-sided relationship: from that initial fear of your first meeting to the gradual realisation, by the end of the song, that perhaps they were never who you thought they were (and it's best to forget about them).
