Heels Lyrics

Oh I wish you wouldn't let
Me read the letters that you get
Well, yeah, he's just a fool
But that doesn't make it any less cruel
But I can't look away
Especially when you say
You haven't read them yet
Cos there's someone else that you've already metHe says he misses you
But thinks you've been untrue
But he won't intervene
With your master plan whatever that might mean
But he can't understand
Why you got so offhand
You crushed him with your heels
And I know exactly how he feelsAnd I don't really care
That you've found another lover
Because I know he'll be gone
The moment that you get bored

And I know I shouldn't stare
When you kiss him like you kissed the others
He's just another one
Who thinks you should be adoredYou need a paramour
Someone to pluck your eyebrows for
And if no-one wants to play
Well, you'll probably stay in bed all day
But have you ever paused
To calculate the pain you've caused?
You say you want to live
But one day, something's got to giveI don't really care
That you've found another lover
Because I know he'll be gone
The moment that you get bored
And I know I shouldn't stare
When you kiss him like you kissed the others
He's just another one
Who thinks you should be adoredI don't really care
That you've found another lover
Because I know he'll be gone
The moment that you get bored
I know I shouldn't stare
When you kiss him like you kissed the others
He's just another one
Who thinks you should be adored

Cinerama from Leeds, UK started life as a duo in 1997, The Wedding Present's David Gedge and his girlfriend Sally Murrell, together with a shifting line-up of collaborators. 1998's Va Va Voom "turbo-driven melodies and bittersweet vignettes taking in everything from John Barry to the Zombies" (The Times) featured The Church's Marty Willson-Piper and Emma Pollock from The Delgados. Then later in 1998, Gedge rescued the rhythm section of the disbanded Goya Dress ([Terry de Castro and Simon Pearson) and combined them with Wedding Present guitarist Simon Cleave.
