Manhattan Lyrics

I can't help staring when youre hardly wearing a thing
Your lascivious mouth is full of smiles
Your laughter echoes off the bathroom tiles
With your pretty hands folded sweetly in your lap
You make such a tantalizing trapBut who deserves your perfect curves and wiles?
Well, I can tell you now that it won't be me
Because my girlfriend's waiting patiently
And I have noticed that youre inclined to tease
So dont make this any harder for meOh, please dont look so confused
I guess youre seldom refused
You must think Im insane
I'll be walking out knowing I won't get this chance againYou kissed me once and you got a response
And I know, after a kiss like that, some men would leave their wife
But I dont want to destroy my life
Just because you look at me that way
It doesn't mean that Im about to stayBut I can hardly believe
That Im about to just leave
Because some weird chromosome

Somewhere deep inside is calling me homeOh, please dont look so confused
I guess youre seldom refused
You must think Im insane
I'll be walking out knowing I won't get this chance againOf course, I want to share your bed with you
But if I stay tonight, I can never go homeBut I can hardly believe
That Im about to just leave
Because some weird chromosome
Somewhere deep inside is calling me homeOh, please dont look so confused
I guess youre seldom refused
You must think Im insane
I'll be walking out knowing I won't get this chance againI can hardly believe
That Im about to just leave
Because some weird chromosome
Somewhere deep inside is calling me homeOh, please dont look so confused
I guess youre seldom refused
You must think Im insane
I'll be walking out knowing I won't get this chance again

Cinerama from Leeds, UK started life as a duo in 1997, The Wedding Present's David Gedge and his girlfriend Sally Murrell, together with a shifting line-up of collaborators. 1998's Va Va Voom "turbo-driven melodies and bittersweet vignettes taking in everything from John Barry to the Zombies" (The Times) featured The Church's Marty Willson-Piper and Emma Pollock from The Delgados. Then later in 1998, Gedge rescued the rhythm section of the disbanded Goya Dress ([Terry de Castro and Simon Pearson) and combined them with Wedding Present guitarist Simon Cleave.
