Invitation to a Closet Lyrics

She invites me to a closet
The night glows in her eyes
And I know now what she wanted
She'd been hinting it all this timeAnd I don't mean to scare you
But I've wanted this for so long
To have you forever and she kissed me
And saidThis is the way we communicate in the dark
This is the way we communicate in the dark
It's just the way we communicate
It's just the way we communicateShe told, she told, she told, she told
She told everyone but it didn't happen
She told, she told, she told, she told
She told everything and it finally happenedShe told, she told, she told, she told
She told everyone but it didn't happen
(Well I knew that you would be around)
(Not so fast, is there anything I can do
To keep you here tonight?)She told, she told, she told, she told
She told everything

(Well I didn't think twice about asking her)
(Because I'd heard the lies so many times
I'm starting to believe that they are true)She was searching for attention
She told everyone but me
And I thought that she'd forgotten
Hey, well, I guess it couldn't beAnd then finally one day
She built up the lust
To ask me the question
Is this real or just? It's just the way we communicate in the dark
It's just the way we communicate in the dark
It's just the way we communicate
It's just the way we communicateShe told, she told, she told, she told
She told everyone but it didn't happen
She told, she told, she told, she told
She told everything and it finally happenedShe told, she told, she told, she told
She told everyone but it didn't happen
(Well I knew that you would be around)
(Not so fast, is there anything I can do
To keep you here tonight?)She told, she told, she told, she told
She told everything
(Well I didn't think twice about asking her)
(Because I'd heard the lies so many times
I'm starting to believe that they are true)

Park Ave. was an indie pop group from Omaha, Nebraska. It was formed in 1996. All of the members contributed vocals, as well as playing an instrument. The line up included: Clark Baechle and Jamie Williams on guitars, Conor Oberst on drums, Neely Jenkins on bass guitar, and Jenn Bernard on keyboards. Prior to forming the band, none of the female members knew how to play their instrument , and Clark was a drummer whilst Conor had been playing guitar since a very young age. Park Ave's existence was short: two and a half years and 15 performances, yet still have a significant fanbase.
