Mississippi Woman Lyrics

Verse 1:
Tired of the city life
Costs too much too fast
Used to the older roads
The smell of that country grass
This city is so hi-tech
I don't want to rattle my brain
Lord knows I'm a country gal
I wanna get back from where I came
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I wanna get back to my blues
Verse 2:
Tired of fast food

Raised on cornbread and collard greens
Chitlins, hog nose, a big old pot of pinto beans
I sang the blues on my front porch
Talk loud, drink and cuss
Without them down home blues y'all
I'm gonna get back on the bus
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I wanna get back to my blues
I think about it all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
Verse 3:
I've been all over the world
I've seen almost everything
I've sung all kind of places
People call me the queen
But no matter where I go y'all
I give them something real
People all over the world
Need that Mississippi feel
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues
I talk about it all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues
All night long
All night long
All night long
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
I've got Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
With that Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues
Chorus:
I'm just a Mississippi woman
With that Mississippi mud on my shoes
I'm just a Mississippi woman
Trying to get back to my blues

The Rustix were a super popular R&B band during the late 1960's in the western NY area particularly in Rochester.
My experience with the band began in early 1967.I had been drumming for a band named The Invictas. I was becoming bored with the style of music played by The Invictas and coincidentally a new, up and coming group, The Rustix, had lost their drummer,Bobby Blandino, to the armed forces. The two groups had been playing at the same club known as the Varsity Inn. The Invictas played the night gigs while The Rustix played the Sunday afternoon gigs.
