My Best Lyrics

We scream and shout and try to make it last
Though it didn’t work out, I don’t love you any less
My lover or friend, I won’t ever tell
Our secret's safe, an unspoken citadel
And in these broken times, well, it’s so easy to forget
so I sing to remind, upon my shoulder you can rest
'Cause I’ll always give you my best
A sidewalk's path leads me to you
Though we don’t look back, we hold on to a truth
And in these broken times I promise I will not forget
Though you’re not mine upon your shoulder I can rest
'Cause you always give me your best
It’s like I promised you
It’s like you never left
It’s like you never left
I know it’s been so long, I can't ever seem to forget
All it takes is a song and I could swear I hear your steps
Down the hall that goes up past that leaves an ache, it's never left

'Cause I gave you my best
It’s like you never left
It’s like you never left
We scream and shout and try to make it last

Born Ian James Currie (1982) in Grantsville West Virginia, Ghani Gautama first picked up the mic in Myrtle Beach South Carolina at age 16 as the front man for rap-rock outfit, Pure Irate Souls. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 2000 he linked up with DJ/Producer Metrognome and the duo recruited several neighbors and art school classmates to form Street Temple Emcees. With Gautama taking on the bulk of the writing and Metrognome manning the helm Street Temple recorded one album, 2005's "Asphalt Prophets." The pressures of recording and promoting and album led to Street Temple's demise and after an extended hiatus, Ghani Gautama returned to the music scene with his 2008 solo debut, "Give 'Em Enough Hope." On the strength of his debut release Gautama went on to tour nationally as a part of Quanstar's "Bring Your A Game Tour" and has shared stages with the likes of Immortal Technique, Akil the MC (of Jurassic 5) and Little Brother's Rapper Big Pooh. In early 2010 Ghani Gautama released his sophomore effort entitled "Few Against Many" and actively tours from his home base of Charlotte, North Carolina. Read more on Last.fm.
