Negative Lyrics

Stop, you're looking miserable
Can't be bothered gettin' up today
My future's looking positive
No one even picked on me todaySo you tested negative
Panic in your bedsit goes away
You convert to Scientology
To feel a part of something once againI look downwards, I look downwards
Feeling negative, looking negative
I see downwardsI see downwards, I look downwards
I see negative, feeling negative
Looking downwardsHave you ever told a lie to hide a lie?
Shame on you, you've compromised again
'Cos things are closin' in on you
Not so far away as they may seemHave you ever told a lie to hide a lie?
Shame on you, you've compromised again
And things are closin' in on you
Not as far away as they may seemI look downwards, I see downwards
Seeing negative, seeing negative

I see downwardsI look downwards, I see downwards
Feeling negative, seeing negative
Looking downwardsSomeone nudged me in the street
Someone looked at me twice, now I'm negative
Someone nudged me in the street
Someone poked me in the eye, now I'm negativeI look downwards, I look downwards
Feeling negative, seeing negative
I feel downwardsI see downwards, I see downwards
Feeling negative, oh, negative
Oh, downwardsI see downwards, I see downwards
Feeling negative, negative
DownwardsI feel downwards, I see downwards
Looking negative, seeing negative
Looking downwards

Made up of programmer/keyboardist Sammy Rubin and vocalist Jeremy Haines, Project Jenny, Project Jan spans a surprising musical range, from the sinister beats of “320” to the feel good “Summertime”; from the singalong swing of “Brooklyn” to the expansive Bollywood feel of “The Dialogue.” One thing remains constant, however: Their kinetic energy, which inspired Billboard to call Project Jenny, Project Jan’s live show a “shockingly dynamic, danceable, and hilarious affair.” VanityFair.com called the band “awesome” and enthusiastically recommended its show “to anyone with functional knee and elbow joints.” Meanwhile, Gothamist solemnly observed, “This is a band that should be taken seriously.” The duo’s originality impressed Ear Farm enough to name Project Jenny, Project Jan one of its top ten bands to watch out for in 2008. Sure enough, that year Project Jenny, Project Jan was featured in the film Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, performing their rowdy crowd-pleaser “Negative.”

Project Jenny, Project Jan’s discography so far includes its 2005 self-released EP —and its debut album XOXOXOXOXO (Might Records), which CMJ hailed as one of the top 25 albums of 2007. Having toured up and down the East Coast, in 2007 Project Jenny, Project Jan opened for Fujiya & Miyagi in the US and then again in the UK; currently the boys are about to embark on another F&M tour, this time across the Southern US and the West. In addition, Project Jenny, Project Jan are set to release a collaboration EP titled the The Colors EP, on April 14th, 2009, featuring collaborations with Fujiya & Miyagi, So Percussion, Mixel Pixel, Adam Matta and Clack Singles Club.
