Prey Lyrics

Nightfall, enthrall
I call her beauty to me
Whose ebon lidded eyes excite
Shadows to wander through meWhose kiss glittered with sleep
Is a thief come after dark
To steal away the leaden wreaths
From my cemetery heartThrilled to see the light
Bruise eddened, silhouetting
Murder sites
As dusk attends her son's blood weddingSpilt across the skies
In reefs of omen
Licking flames and pagan rites
The night awaits with baited thighsStart this artist darkness
Yearning now to start this
Burning as an artistTurning on the darkness
Dizzy looking up with pervertigo
A sewer deity of recrement
World belowI'll make you pray

I spy with wicked lips
The cream of mortal kindCommitting their sins
Their penitent skins
To the harems of my mindPrey thrilled to breathe tonight
The sultry air of graces
Passed in flight
Like birds of May with playful facesFills me with delight
Their crystal skirts
Spun from stars, worn tight
Wink of fists in wishful placesStart this artist darkness
Yearning now to start this
Burning as an artist
Turning on the darknessDizzy looking up with pervertigo
A sewer deity of recrement
World belowI'll make you pray
My whims like smoke in summertime
Writhe atop the bloomsCommitting their thin
White Catholic limbs
To the cloister in my roomYou see I need
To feed my dreams to order
To be agreedWith the beast in me
That bleeds their bordersPrey nightfall, in thrall
I call her beauty to me
Whose ebon idded eyes excite
Shadows to wander through meWhose kiss glittered with sleep
Is a thief come after dark
To steal away the leaden wreaths
From my cemetery heart

Up until 2008 Dave Pezzner was virtually unknown to the electronic dance music community, aside from his works in the duo 'Jacob London' (Classic Music, Doubledown, U-Freqs). For 16 years he cut his chops with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break beat rhythms often crossing the lines between bad-ass, funky and hilarious. In the winter of 2008, Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility.
