Rock America Lyrics

Hey have you heard the news
People on the hill changin' all the rules
The battle's just begun, stand up and fightDon't be afraid to say what's on your mind, it's OK
Be who you wanna be cause it's your lifeWe're not the chosen ones but we've got strength in numbers
Get up and make some noise, let 'em here your thunderChorus:
Out on the backstreets, I hear a heartbeat
We're gonna rock America
Standin' together forever, now and forever,
We're gonna rock America
They try to put us down
Say we're no good 'cause our music's loud
I guess they just don't forget when they were youngWhen there was just one king
Elvis was his name and he sure could swing
The Beach Boys had 'em singin' "Fun, Fun, Fun"They just deny the past and try to plan the future
Don't take it lyin' down, you don't want that, do ya?(Chorus)
We're not the chosen ones but we've got strength in numbers
Get up and make some noise, let 'em here your thunder(Chorus)Rock On!

The quintet -- Ted Poley (vocals), Andy Timmons (guitar), Bruno Ravel (bass), Steve West (drums), and Kasey Smith (keyboards) Landed a deal with Epic in 1989. The same year saw the release of the group's self-titled debut, spawning the single/video "Naughty Naughty," which enjoyed a few airings on MTV's Headbanger's Ball program. The album failed to break the group through to the big time, but the group stuck to their guns and issued further albums: 1992's Screw It, 1995's Dawn, 1998's Four the Hard Way, and 2000's Return of the Great Gildersleeves.
