Serves You Right Lyrics

La, da, da, da
Ooh, oh
You and I were so in love
You were all I was thinkin' of
There was so much magic in your eyes
Then one day you said we were through
You said you found somebody new
And then you turned and you walked right out the door
Baby I told you his love wasn't true
You didn't hear me, so now I say these words to you
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you say you're sorry
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Baby
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you see who's sorry now
Oh, oh ah
I remember you standin' there

Sayin' to me you didn't care
And I was begging baby, please don't go
Now you're cryin', tellin' me what went wrong
Girl you stayed away too long
Can't you see I've got you off my mind
Thinkin 'bout the pain that you put me through
I can't help you because it feels good tellin' you
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you say you're sorry
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Baby
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you see who's sorry now
Whoa, oh, ah, hey
"See mama, what I'm tryin' to say to you is that
I'm, you know, I love you
But you, you hurt me so bad
I can't take it no more girl
Just can't take it more girl
Oh
No no no I don't want to hear
Don't say it more
Don't tell me more
Try to get by
Try to get cryin' girl
Now I don't care, missing"
Thinkin 'bout the pain that you put me through
I can't help you because it feels good tellin' you
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you say you're sorry
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Baby yeah
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you see who's sorry now
Whoa, oh, yeah
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you say you're sorry
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Baby yeah
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Now you see who's sorry now
Whoa, oh, yeah
"Uh
I've given all your love
There ain't nothin' leavin' any more
'Cause all you wanna do
Is set me free today"
It feels good telling you
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
No I just don't need you
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
All you do is use my love
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Can't let you hurt me any more
Whoa, oh, whoa
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Don't say you're sounding wierd
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Also words don't heal me
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
It's you who's sorry now
Whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
(See the feeling)
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Serves you right for sayin' goodbye
Serves you right
Yeah
(Serves you right for sayin' goodbye)
Now you say you're sorry
(Serves you right for sayin' goodbye)
Also words don't make a thing now

Lionel Brockman Richie, Jr. (born June 20, 1949 in Tuskegee, Alabama) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, composer, and occasional actor. He got his start as the front man for the Commodores, a nationally popular Motown band during the 70's. They had several hits such as Easy, Three Times a Lady, and probably the Commodores' most famous hit, Brick House.

Richie quit the band in 1981 for a solo career. He released his self-titled debut in 1982. The album hit No. 3 on the charts and sold over 4 million copies. His follow up album, Can't Slow Down, sold over twice as many copies and won the Grammy for Album of the Year in '84. His third album, '86's Dancing On The Ceiling spawned such hits as Say You, Say Me, Dancing on the Ceiling, and Se La, but would be the end of his commercial success.

His 90's albums such as Back to Front, Louder Than Words, and Time all failed to achieve the previous decade's commercial success. Some of his recent work, such as the album Renaissance, has returned to his older style, hoping to achieve more success.
