Slowly Lyrics

Would it be so bad if we just stopped
For a while
And enjoy the thrills we could all be still
Let the world just pass us by
But it's all hurry, hurry, run, run
There's no time for this
We want more and more, got to win, got to score
So afraid of what we'll miss
And it moves so fast and nothing lasts
This too here will come to pass
Wanna spend my days away from all the fuss
Wanna spend them with you, baby, but you're in a rush
Slowly
Why can't we just take our time?
Slowly
I wish that we could take our time
Yeah, we're all getting older
Realize there's no fountain of youth

This is it, came quick it's a lift, it's a bitch
It's your moment, what you're gonna do?
Hey time would you be a friend?
Ooh, bless us with the chance
To really grow up could you slow it up
Would you postpone the end?
'Cuz you move so fast and nothing lasts
This too here will come to pass
Wanna spend my days away from all the fuss
Wanna spend them with you, baby, but you're in a rush
Yeah, slowly
Why can't we just take our time?
Slowly
I wish that we could take our time
'Cuz you move so fast and nothing lasts
This too here will come to pass
And it flies and it rolls like the storms and the thunders
Stop and love me, baby, our days are numbered
Hey, slowly
Why can't we just take our time?
Hey, slowly
I wish that we could take our time, oh, we'll take our time
Stop and love me, baby, slowly love me, baby
And our days are numbered
If I take my time, slow it down
What you're doing with me, baby, yeah
Slowly

Macy Gray (born Natalie McIntyre September 6, 1967) from Canton, Ohio is a Grammy Award winning neo soul/R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. To date, Macy has released five studio albums, one compilation album and a live album. She has acted in a number of movies including Training Day, Idlewild, and Lackawanna Blues, Gray is best known for her international hit single "I Try", taken from her multi-platinum debut album On How Life Is. Other hits include "Sweet Baby," "Do Something," "When I See You," and "Beauty in the World."

Macy Gray was originally hesitant to record a studio album due to what is, arguably, her most recognizable feature -- her voice. She started her music career as a songwriter. Her first album was actually a mistake; she was at the studio waiting for the person who was supposed to be singing her song, and the producer wanted to hear what one of the songs was supposed to sound like. Once she started singing, the producer liked the rough sound of her voice so much he offered her a record deal.
