Soldier Boy Lyrics

I was born on a railroad track
With the weight of the world strapped to my back
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boyLooking for a life in a graveyard town
If you never get lost, you never get found
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boy
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boyI fell in love with an impossible girl
She was my breath in this strangled world
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be soldier boyShe broke my heart with my best friend's name
Now my mind still works, but it's not the same
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boy
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boyWe go bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, lo
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, loSo many people wanna watch things grow
Either they're blind or they just don't know
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boyMy daddy was done before he turned nineteen
My momma was run like a fast machine
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boySo I cross my heart and I hope to die

Like an aeroplane, baby, coming out of the sky
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boy
Born to be a soldier boy, born to be a soldier boyWe go bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, lo
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, loBang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, lo
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ticky, ticky
Bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, ba-bang, lo, lo, lo, lo

There were at least four groups who used this name: 1) An American do0-wop group whose biggest hit was "Baby" in 1957. 2) A British pop music vocal group, composed of Valerie Murtagh (born 1936, Willesden, London) and Elaine Murtagh, (born 1940, County Cork, Eire) and they were originally known on stage as 'The Avon Sisters'. They then added Raymond S. Adams (born 1938, Jersey, Channel Islands), and changed their name to 'The Avons'. 3) Another UK group formed in the 1980s.
