Monkey Shine Lyrics

Most of my life has been hit and run
Look for me two times and the second time I'm gone
Throwing stones at your window
Hanging by my toes from your tree
Keep me out any longer, girl
You'll make a monkey out of mePeople you meet up and down the line
All wondering why you can't stop on a dime
Only thing to do is just let your monkey shineI'm looking for a girl from Alabama
Bottle of whiskey from Tennessee
Well, there's a warm wind blowing around me
But, I'm cold and lonely and I need some companyPeople you meet up and down the line
All wondering why you can't stop on a dime
Only thing to do is just let your
Let your, let your monkey shineI'm looking for a girl from Alabama
Bottle of whiskey from Tennessee
Well, there's a warm wind blowing around me
But, I'm cold and lonely and I need some company
Yeah, I need some company

Head East was a hard rock quintet originally from south central Illinois, then Champaign, Illinois, USA. They released their first album, Flat as a Pancake, in 1974 on their own record label (Pyramid Records) selling all 5,000 records and 500 eight-tracks produced. A&M was impressed enough to sign the band and re-release the album in 1975 which went gold by 1978. Flat as a Pancake would remain their most popular album spawning two charting singles, the well-known anthem "Never Been Any Reason" and "Love Me tonight", both written by guitarist Mike Somerville.
