Shine Lyrics

She walks into the room, says, "What can I do for you today?"
Started out hard, now it's just a job gets easier everyday
When she was seventeen she had so many dreams, my how things change
Left her one night after inventing a fight, another mouth on the wayWhat did you want? When you began?
How do you think you came to this end?
Now, you're aching, aching, say, "This pain is mine"
Wanting, waiting, waiting to shineSteps into the room everything goes black, that's all she said she knew
Every few months somebody gets rough, really nothing new
She closes her eyes, dreams of a time, dreams a better way
Now, she only wants a life for the one in her life gets her through the dayWhat did you want? When you began?
How do you think you came to this end?
Now, you're aching, aching, say, "This pain is mine"
Wanting, waiting, waiting to shineWhat do you see? Becoming to clear
Close your eyes, it will all disappearNow, your aching, aching it's all in your mind
Wanting, waiting, waiting to shine
Know that you're hoping, hoping you'll find
Only wanting you to shineWhen she was seventeen she had such dreams
My how things change

The Nixons were founded in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by singer/guitarist Zac Maloy, guitarist Jesse Davis, bassist Ricky Brooks, and drummer Tye Robison. The group released their debut EP Six in 1992 (after a obscure self-titled album, probably released in 1990) on Dragon Street Records and replaced the original drummer with John Humphrey before releasing Halo in 1994 on Rainmaker label. This album features several songs also included in Foma, their first official full length record, released out in 1995 on MCA Records.
