South Hampton Avenue Lyrics

She lies in bed, out of her head, suckin' a cigarette
Closin' her eyes she really tries to make believe she's dead
But she's not, she's not
In the next tomb, her old man's room, it's another night
He slips away on cathode ray into the TV light
Yeah, it's on but he's gone
We live on South Hampton Avenue
We'll leave the welcome light on for you
Now that you think you know who we are
How do you like us so far?
Right down the stairs, my mom is there under the mushroom cloud
Sometimes she sits, sometimes she knits, sometimes she talks out loud
To herself, she's allowed
Hangin' on the wall, up and down the hall pictures of family
My brother Dave is on display for all the world to see
Now he's gone, he moved on
We live on South Hampton Avenue
We'll leave the welcome light on for you

Now that you think you know who we are
How do you like us so far? How do you like us so far?
We live on South Hampton Avenue
I've got a feelin' that so do you
We live on South Hampton Avenue
We'll leave the welcome light on for you
Now that we think we know who you are
How do you like it so far? How do you like it so far?
How do you like it so far? South Hampton Avenue

Blessid Union of Souls is an American rock band from Cincinnati that was formed in 1990 by Jeff Pence and Eliot Sloan. The current touring band members are singer Eliot Sloan (original member), bassist Tony Clark (original member), drummer Shaun Schaefer (Vinyltones), and guitarist Bryan Billhimer (Vinyltones). Two former touring members, keyboard and bassist C.P. Roth and drummer Eddie Hedges, left the band in 2002.

Some of the band's biggest hits include "I Believe," "Hey, Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)," "I Wanna Be There," and "Brother My Brother" which was used in the US release of the first Pokemon movie. Their debut album, "Home," was certified gold by the RIAA in 1995.

In 2000, several of the band's songs were scheduled for use during the production of a film entitled "Standing at the Edge of the Earth" by Fizzle Freak Productions. The film would have co-starred the band's bassist Tony Clark, as well as the rest of the band featured in prominent roles. The film's production was canceled in late 2000 early 2001 due to legal and financial issues.

In 2006, Jeff Pence headed a project in which the band contributed two tracks for "Clutch Hits," a CD that featured a variety of artists singing about the Cincinnati Reds. The songs were entitled "Play Ball" and "Me, Marty, Joe, Ted & Louise." The project was a fund raiser for the Reds Community Fund.
