Where We Were Before Lyrics

When we started it was years ago
We tried so hard to find our souls
And lose the innocence that won't let goSo we crossed the line and can't turn back
Happy endings never last
'Cause there's always more to stories never toldIs this what I've been waiting for a life for someone else
To polish all my faded dreams and put them on the shelf
Is this what I've been dreaming of 'cause I'm needing so much more
I'm just trying to get back where we were beforeWe'd shine so hard for everyone
'Cause we thought we had forever and
A day we never thought would end this wayWith a million mornings left to come
We never cared for losing one
But it's half past my forever
And I need someone to hold my handAnd you're just what I've been waiting for to come and take me in
To grab a hold and take control and make me whole again
And if you need my everything you can take it all and more
Just help me to get back where we were beforeYeah, I've grown numb to some things
Hunger for the one thing
That takes me back

To where it all began, it all beganI know we've grown apart
But every now and then
I just close my eyes
And here we are againAnd you're just what I've been waiting for so come and take me in
Grab a hold and take control and make me whole my friend
And if you need my everything you can take in all and more
Just help me to get back where we were
Just help me to get back where we were
Just help me to get back where we were beforeWhere we were before

Blessid Union of Souls is an American rock band from Cincinnati that was formed in 1990 by Jeff Pence and Eliot Sloan. The current touring band members are singer Eliot Sloan (original member), bassist Tony Clark (original member), drummer Shaun Schaefer (Vinyltones), and guitarist Bryan Billhimer (Vinyltones). Two former touring members, keyboard and bassist C.P. Roth and drummer Eddie Hedges, left the band in 2002.

Some of the band's biggest hits include "I Believe," "Hey, Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)," "I Wanna Be There," and "Brother My Brother" which was used in the US release of the first Pokemon movie. Their debut album, "Home," was certified gold by the RIAA in 1995.

In 2000, several of the band's songs were scheduled for use during the production of a film entitled "Standing at the Edge of the Earth" by Fizzle Freak Productions. The film would have co-starred the band's bassist Tony Clark, as well as the rest of the band featured in prominent roles. The film's production was canceled in late 2000 early 2001 due to legal and financial issues.

In 2006, Jeff Pence headed a project in which the band contributed two tracks for "Clutch Hits," a CD that featured a variety of artists singing about the Cincinnati Reds. The songs were entitled "Play Ball" and "Me, Marty, Joe, Ted & Louise." The project was a fund raiser for the Reds Community Fund.
