A Rose By Any Other Name Lyrics

Lately all the flowers seem to be so plain
Can you call a rose by any other name?
Gerald
Just this morning I took a stroll through your garden
I watched the sunrise and it made me think of you
The way you talk to the flowers and make them grow
And in the middle of all these flowers
There's one single stem red rose
It stood out from the rest the fairest of them all
It made me think of what you asked me
Can you call a rose by any other name?
Lady your body moves like poetry
Like a diamond in the raw
You shine for me
No one else can hold her hand up to you girl
Cause you're everything I need in my world lady
Lately all the flowers seem to be so plain
Can you call a rose by any other name

Here inside your garden it's like I feel unchanged
Can you call a rose by any other name?
Gerald
Take your time
Teena
In there, I got a song for you boy
Telling the world about the joy inside my garden
In the shade baby
Cause my world was spinning round
Until you made my love come down never gonna let you go
No, I never gonna let you go
Lately all the flowers seem to be so plain
Can you call a rose by any other name
Here inside your garden it's like I feel unchanged
Can you call a rose by any other name?
Anything you want
Anything you want
Anything you want
Can you call a rose by any other name?
Say
There's one thing [3x]
A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
There's no other flower in my heart that grows
Arose is a rose
A ro se is a rose
My flower
My rose, my flower
Growing, growing, growing, baby
Yes you are

His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
