In My Songs Lyrics

I don’t mind making you happy
I don’t mind making your day
It feels so good to give
But I never, never seem to get my way
I’m tired of waking up
With nobody laying next to me
I’m tired of being alone
And everybody else is lovey dovey
I’m so tired of all where y'all being happy
But me
If I could only find a lover to sing about
Oh, oh, when I sing my song
See I know what I want
Something real, something I could feel
And I know it don’t come easy
I wanna be with somebody
Who can share my ups and downs
And when they’re feeling bad

I can be the one to make her smile
Make her realize
That I’m the special guy I sing about
If I could only find a lover to sing about
If I could only find a lover to sing about
See every night on my knees
I pray, send her to me
See I ain’t been perfect, in fact I've been dead wrong
But it’s time for me to live off the love that I sing about in my songs
See listen, I wanna walk down the aisle to my song
I want the first dance to be my song
And I wanna and I wanna make
Wanna make love to my song, to my song, yeah
Wanna have babies to my song
I wanna cry, cry, cry, cry, cry
When I’m singing my song
I wanna say damn it's too good, it's too good to be my song
I wanna break-up to make-up, oh, to my song
Oh, I wanna spend quality time
Quality time like my song
Just in years and years and years to my song
Waiting for the time when we can say, this is our song yeah
Sing it together, sing it together
If I could only find a lover to sing about
If I could only find a lover to sing about
If I could only find a lover to sing about

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
