It Hurts Too Much To Stay Lyrics

Candle light and chocolate kisses
Calls to say you missed me when we started
Your nails was done, your hair was pressed
I miss the way you used to dress
When I met you
I really do
I gave my best 4 years, my time was wasted
See I shared your fears, and the tears you cried I tasted
Baby, I loved your kids, opened up my home. Yes I did
Paid your mama's bills. Gave you all when
You had nothing
Love you so, can't let go
Never thought I'd be without you
Can't imagine life without you
Walk away, everyday
Told me that you'd never leave
But now you say it hurts too much to stay
Too much to stay

Said it's hard for me
Your lover's stayin with his mom
Tell me was it worth the drama oh baby
See we got our own kids yeah
If there had to be another
Why go trick'n in the gutter
And drivin our sh, mmmmmm
Boo baby
See I know he can't put that thang down like I do
Baby that was the past. You don't roll like you used
Said what's my motivation
Girl I'm better off alone
Tell me why can't we just walk away
Why are we so torn?
Love you so, can't let go
Never thought I'd be without you
Can't imagine life without you
Walk away, everyday
Told me that you'd never leave
But now you say it hurts too much to stay
Never meant to hurt you
You walk away from me
Tell me why did you change
Can't it be all that we have hoped and prayed for
Now its gone away
Oh baby, everything. Our hopes and dreams they are
No longer. We can't go back the way it used to be
Said now really
Love you so, can't let go
Never thought I'd be without you
Can't imagine life without you
Walk away, everyday
Told me that you'd never leave
But now you say it hurts too much to stay
Tryin to make you understand that I only just a man
Going to jail cause I kill yo girl
Going to jail cause I kill yo girl
Come on now don't do this now
Come on now don't do this now
Your body belongs to me
She can't have you no matter what she thinks
No no no no no no no no no

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
