Baby U Are Lyrics

Before you came around I asked myself
What is this thing called love?
There were clouds, the rain kept pouring down
Then you brought the sun, yes, you didShowed me all the differences
Between a woman and a girl
Right then I knew I could be a good man
With you inside my world, my world, my worldI don't need to take a toke
'Cuz I'm on a natural high
Everybody's blowing smoke
But girl you never lie
Friends say that we in a pinch
They're just hatin' their lies
I know they want what I got
It comes once in a lifetime, yeahYou're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like rainbows and shining stars
Baby, you are
You're the reason why I sing

All of life's finer things
Like diamond rings and fancy cars
Baby, you areI was a bad seed
And you nourished me, encouraged me
'Till I grew tall as a tree, as a tree
You had patience to search
Find and bring out
All the best in me, yes, you didYou see things I couldn't see
My mental potential
Girl, you showed me, yeah
Now it's a reality and I promise for you
I'm gonna be all that I can beI don't need to take a toke
'Cause I'm on a natural high
Everybody's blowing smoke
But girl, but girl you never, never, never, never lie
Friends say that we in a pinch
But they're just hatin' their lies
I know they want what I got
It only comes once in a lifetime, baby, babyYou're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like rainbows and shining stars
Baby, you are, yeah
You're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like diamond rings and fancy cars
Baby, you areYou are, you are, you are, you are
Baby, you are, I mean it, I mean it, babe
Baby you are, said you're number one in my book
And forever you got me hooked
Baby, you are, you are, you areTake it back girl, come on
Ooh, who, ooh, who
You're my shining star
Said baby, baby you are, you are, you are
Oh, who, you're everything I need
Baby just stay here with me, you areYou're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like rainbows and shining stars
Baby, baby, baby, baby, you are, yeah
You're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like diamond rings and fancy cars
Ooh, ooh, baby, you are, yeah
You are, yeah, yeah, yeah
Baby, you are, yeah
Baby, you are my everything
Baby you areYou're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like rainbows and shining stars
Baby, baby, baby, you are
You're the reason why I sing
All of life's finer things
Like diamond rings and fancy cars
Baby, you are

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
