Can't Win Lyrics

How do you say it's over
And still be friends? Oh yeah
We got so much in common
I just can't be her man
Can't be her man, no, noI love her but I'm not in love
She's got my child
She's got my thing
She's got my babyBut she can be so vindictive
What am I gonna do now?
What am I gonna do now? YeahSometimes I just wanna throw up my hands
But that's not the real manly thing to do, oh no, no, no, no, no
Sometimes I just wanna give up and quit to here within
What about my child? What about my child? No matter how hard I try to do right
I can't win if I'm losing, no, I can't win if I'm losing
My heart means well but I always doubt
And I can't win if I'm losing, no way I can't win, I can't winNo matter what's ?
It's always in the wrong direction, direction, direction
Mo matter how close I come

To getting it right is never perfection, no way, no how, noHow many burns and bruises
Can you take before it looks like a chica? Oh no
And how many hearts and promises
Must you break before you leave it alone?
Let it go, let it go, let it goSometimes I just wanna throw up my hands
But that's not the real manly thing to do, oh no, no, no
Sometimes I just wanna give up and quit to here within
What about my child? What about my child? No matter how hard I try to do right
I can't win if I'm losing, oh no, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no
My heart mean well but I always doubt
I can't win if I'm losingJust wanna throw my hands up
In the air and say forget, it babeNo matter how hard I try to do right
I can't win if I'm losing
My heart means well but I always doubt
I can't win if I'm losingI can't win, I can't win
I can't win, I can't win if I'm losing
I can't win, I can't win
I can't win, I can't win if I'm losingI can't win, I can't win
I can't win, I can't win if I'm losing
I can't win, I can't win
I can't win, I can't win if I'm losingSaid no matter how hard I try to do right
I can't if I'm for losing
My heart means well but I always doubt
I can't win if I'm losingNo matter how hard I try to do right
I can't win if I'm losing
My heart means well but I always doubt

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
