Catchin' Feelings Lyrics

Catchin' feelingsI'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with hollering at you and you not holler back
Leaving messages on your phone and you don't hit me backCatchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with knowing you're laying up with somebody else
I don't want you for my friend if I can't have you for myselfA friend of a friend introduced us, had some drinks and some laughs
Told me about your man, I told you 'bout my girlfriend
You said he made you happy sometimes
But he spends way too much time at workAnd his family worked yo' nerves, baby
Momma was a jerk and his kissing was the worse
But you still loved him, so we agreed to meet next week
For conversation and some drinksBut baby girl, I think I'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with hollering at you and you not holler back
Leaving messages on your phone and you don't hit me backCatchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with knowing you're laying up with somebody else
I don't want you for my friend if I can't have you for myselfYou brought your man the next week, that didn't sit well wit me
But our other friends made it easier for me to be in your company
You said, "Hey, that's my jam", but your man didn't want to dance
So I took you by the hand and led you to the dance floorThe closer we got, I started feeling hot

Ooh, I know you feel me, girl, how embarrassing
But you didn't push away, you pulled me closer to your face
Whispered this is wrong, we stopped before the end of the songI'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with hollering at you and you not holler back
Leaving messages on your phone and you don't hit me backCatchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with knowing you're laying up with somebody else
I don't want you for my friend if I can't have you for myselfI met many a woman but never felt this way
You had me wide open the first time I seen yo' face
But I can't be around you and know you're not mine
So if you really love him, tell me am I wasting my time?I'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with hollering at you and you not holler back
Leaving messages on your phone and you don't hit me backI'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with knowing you're laying up with somebody else
I don't want you for my friend if I can't have you for myselfI'm catchin' feelings, I'm catchin' feelings
I don't think I can deal with knowing you're laying up with somebody else
I don't want you for my friend if I can't have you for myself

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
