She Done Been Lyrics

You brotha's, y'all forget you got a mama
Got a lady that stick with you through thick and thin
But you dog her
And you ain't been through half the shit she beenYou step in the church
Every morning, six am, up from work
Daddy always kept it real
Taught you how a man supposed to feelNot afraid to cook and clean
Ain't even into the party scene
But no matter what you do
Every man that you meet
Want his cake and eat it tooShe been lied to, cheated on
The victim of every sad song
Her mother and her father
Definition of a perfect daughterBut she can't find a man
Who done been half the things
She done beenIf you out there, raise your hand
Raise your hand, check it outYou like the thought of making love
Occasional kisses and a few hugs

Want a family, raise some kids
Just like your mama and your daddy did, yeahBut every guy you start to dig
Comes with baggage and no gig, yeah
(Got no kind of a job)
Got a baby mama and a lot of bills
You foot the bill but he come and go at willShe been lied to, cheated on
The victim of every sad song
Her mother and her father
Definition of a perfect daughterBut she can't find a man
Who done been half the things
She done beenShe done been
She done been
She done beenSaid, give your baby a standing ovation
Got her own college education
Raise the babies all alone
Always in a house but never at a homeSaid, she can't find a man
Who done been half the things
She done beenIf you out there, raise your hand
Raise your hand, raise your hand(She done been)
Twenty-four hours in labor
(She done been)
She been abused by her man
(She done been)Out there on the welfare
(She done been)
Y'all don't seem to understand
(She done been)PMS ing once a month
(She done been)
Scrapping up dollars to get the baby lunch
(She done been)Left at the alter by her sucker man
(She done been)
Y'all don't seem to understand
You don't seem to understand
(She done been)Called bitches and hoes for no reason
(She done been)
Getting reeked on by the man she was pleasing
(She done been)It was her best friend
(She done been)
Can you find a man who done been through
What she done been, yeahShe can't find a man
Who done been half the things
She done beenShe done been
She done been
She done been
She done been

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
