Soul Mate (New Mix) Lyrics

Gerald Levert - Soul MateVerse 1
Everyone needs someone they can talk to
If it's fine with you they would walk through
With no hesitation be there
They care for you
And everyone needs someone they can run to
In the nick of time they are
Sure to come through
Cause they have your best interest at heart
Their part, part of you
Chorus
We all need a soul mate
Someone to hold
When the nights become cold
Someone to love
We all need a soul mate
A shoulder to cry
Just to help us get by

Someone for us
Verse 2
Now who in the right mind
Wouldn't want a love they
Can have for a lifetime
Someone they can cherish
Someone they can share with for life
May one person, no, no, no, no, no
And who wouldn't want someone
They can dream with
Not to mention any more proud then to be seen with
Your lover and your best friend
Times like these we appreciate
Chorus
Got to hear me y'all
You got to hear me now
Soul, soul mate
Got to be with me now
We all need a soul mate
Someone to hold when the nights become cold
Someone to love
Shoulder to cry just to help you get by
Someone for you and me, me and you
Baby, baby, baby. baby, baby, baby
We all need someone to love sometime
Someone to hold on to, listen baby
Ooooooooooooo
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We all need a soul mate
Someone to hold when the nights become cold
Someone to love when its cold outside
And I need a shoulder to cry
To help me get by
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
