What About Me Lyrics

What about me baby
What about our house
(House)
What about our home
(Home)
What about our family
(Family)
Yeah, yeah
(Yeah, yeah)
Yeah
(Yeah)Early one Sunday morning
I woke to see my baby missing from bed
(Yes I did, yes I did)
And lying there on her pillow
It was a letter and it read
(Ooh girl, yeah, yeah)We just don't talk like we used to
We just don't do things we used to do, no, no
So I decided to just move on

'Cause the bond we once shared is no longer strong(What about)
What about our kids
(What about, what about)
What about our home
What about those dreams that we shared
Girl this isn't fair
(This isn't fair no, no)What about our love
What about our joy
What about our dear family
(What about, what about)
Ooh what about me
(Ooh what about)As I read on it just brought me down
And I questioned myself like where, when, how
She could leave me this way, she didn't fuss or complain
And I'm thinking she's fine but she knew all the timeShe would leave us behind
Broke that promise, she lied
Now my kids teary eyed
Girl you could have compromisedWhat about our kids
What about our home
(What about, what about)
What about those dreams that we shared
Girl this isn't fair
(This isn't fair no, no, no, no, no, no)What about our love
What about our joy
What about our dear family
Ooh, what about meWhy
(Why)
After all this time
(All this time)
What was on your mind
(On your mind)
You didn't show a sign
You weren't happy girl
(Happy)
Now you crushed our world
And you let go everything(What about our)
What about our kids
What about our home
What about those dreams that we shared
Girl this isn't fair
(Yeah no, no)What about our love
What about our joy
(What about)
What about our dear family
Ooh, what about meWhat about our kids
What about our home
(What about, what about)
What about those dreams that we shared
Girl this isn't fair(Oh what about our love)
What about our love
(What about)
What about our joy
What about our dear family
(What about our love)
Ooh, what about meWhat about me, yeah yeah
What about, what about
(Said what about)
What about me
(What about our)What about our house
What about our kids
What about our family, yeah, yeah, oh

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got that Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good To You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In The Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep.
